For Ages:
9 to 18 months
Purpose:

This activity will help their eye/ hand coordination. It will give them a sense of accomplishment and pride in their actions. It will give you both a positive time together.

Materials:

1 empty toilet paper roll
1 bright colored cloth napkin or scarf

Instructions:

When your child is attentive and you both are rested, sit your child on the floor or in his/her highchair. Flash the bright colored cloth you have chosen for your child to see. Then have your child watch as you stuff the cloth into the cardboard toilet paper holder. Make sure you let a little of the cloth hang out of the end. You will need to hold the cardboard close enough to your child so s/he can reach up and grab onto the cloth. Encourage your child to reach for the cloth and pull it out of the holder. After the child has pulled it out, praise them and repeat the activity. There should be a lot of smiles on both sides of your holder. You can play this for 2-3 minutes until your child tires of the activity. Have fun!
