For Ages:
2 to 4 yrs.
Purpose:
This activity will help their eye/ hand coordination. It will also help with letter identification.

Materials:

1 metal cookie sheet.
1 set of magnetic alphabet letters

It is better to start with the lowercase
letters first. Once your child knows the lowercase letters, then use the capital
letters.

Instructions:
You can have your child sit at the table. Put the metal cookie sheet in front of him/her. Start with letters that your child may see in his/her name. Ask your child what the name of the letter might be. If your child can name the letter, give it to him/her to place on their cookie sheet. If the child can’t name the letter, tell the child what the name of the letter is and have them repeat the name, before you give it to them to place on the cookie sheet.
After your child has done a few letters, then ask them to find the a, t, j etc. And give it back to you. The younger child may only be able to focus on this activity for a short period of time. Practice letters that they know before adding a new letter for them to learn. Try to add only one letter at a time.
As they get a little older or know more letters, then try to get them to name the letters in their own name and put them into the correct order.
