For Ages:
6 to 12 months
Purpose:
This activity will help their eye/ hand coordination. It will help them predict what their behavior will do for them. This will also help in language development and socialization.

Materials:

A cloth napkin OR solid small scarf
DO NOT use anything plastic.

It needs to be just big enough to cover half of the top of the baby’s head and hang down just over their eyes.

Instructions:

Take the cloth napkin and gently drape it over the baby’s head so that it just cover’s his/her eyes. If the baby doesn’t reach up and pull the napkin off in a short amount of time, you pull the napkin off and as you do it say, “peekaboo”.
The baby will begin to get the idea and look forward to having you drape that napkin over his/her head. Don’t forget the “peekaboo” part. They always like that. It will become something they can predict.
If after two or three times your baby shows signs of fear or just doesn’t like the napkin on their his/her head discontinue the activity and try it a few weeks later. Have fun with your little one.
