For Ages:
2 to 5 yrs.
Purpose:
This activity will help their eye/ hand coordination. It will give your child a new tactile experience. It will allow for arm and hand movement that helps with fine motor skills.

Materials:
1 large cookie sheet with sides on it.
1 can of men’s shaving cream
1 apron or bib for your child (optional)
1 hand towel for wiping hands.
A work area that can be wiped down
at the conclusion of the activity.

Instructions:
For this activity, your child should be sitting up to a table that can be washed at the conclusion of the activity.
Shake the can of shaving cream and squeeze several small mounds of cream onto the cookie sheet. Show your child that it is alright to put his/her hands into the cream and spread it out over the tray. Stay with your child at all times so s/he doesn’t put the shaving cream into his/her eyes or mouth.
After the cream is spread out onto the cookie sheet, show the child how to draw lines in it with their fingers.
Small children will just be getting used to the feel of the cream. They may wiggle their fingers or swirl their hands in it. Older children can practice writing letters, numbers and their names in the cream with their fingers.
When they are finished, use the hand towel to wipe the cream off their hands before they get down to wash the rest off in the sink.
