For Ages:
18 mos. to 2 yrs.
Purpose:
We are trying to develop muscles in their hands. This will help their fine motor skills.

Materials:
1 newspaper ad
1 9x12 blank paper
1 glue stick

Instructions:
Sit together at a table. Newsprint is easier to tear than other paper. You model how to tear by tearing a long strip about 1” by 4”. Give them the strip and let them tear small pieces from it.
After they have several pieces, you put some spots of glue on the larger paper. Show them how to stick their torn pieces onto the glue spot.
Repeating this activity over several months will help your child’s accuracy.
