About Us

Bright Spot, Inc. was founded in 2003 by Charlene Lockner and Gene Benson, both life-long educators as well as new grandparents.  While shopping for toys and activities for their grandchildren, they discovered that there was an abundance of products on the market for young children, but few of those products were educationally sound.  Realizing the importance of developing concepts such as language skills, number concepts, self-awareness, and more, Charlene and Gene decided that the only way to get the products they wanted was to create them.  On that day, Bright Spot, Inc. was born.

Charlene Lockner's background includes being a mother and a grandmother in addition to an early childhood learning specialist.  She has more than twenty-five years experience as an elementary education teacher, with more than twenty of those years a s a kindergarten teacher.	Gene Benson's background includes more than thirty years as an educator, with nine of those years as an elementary education teacher.  He has also served as a faculty member, professor, and dean at the college level.  He is also a father and grandfather.
